The hypnobirthing course I did at the time gave me some helpful breathing techniques and a basic knowledge on the logic behind hypnobirthing. It was during my second pregnancy that I really started to read into what happens to my body during labour and birth and what my rights and options are in birth and this knowledge helped me even more. It gave me the unfaltering confidence to trust in my body’s ability to grow and birth my baby.
I have so many conversations with friends, colleagues and people I meet in life who don’t have this knowledge, lack confidence in their own ability and aren’t aware of their options and choices in birth. I have since trained as a hypnobirthing teacher with KGHypnobirthing so that I can support women in their pregnancy and help them to feel confident by informing and arming them with knowledge and skills. Since training I have a further wealth of knowledge that I feel compelled to share with as many birthing people as I can. I continue to learn and keep up to date with the birth and maternity world so that I can ensure I am giving the most up to date and evidence based information to my clients and also just because I love it!
I have been a registered nurse since 2020 and have worked within women’s health since 2015 caring for women with a wide variety of gynae related health issues and women in early pregnancy. Helping women and birthing people is a deep-seated need within me and by teaching hypnobirthing I feel I can do this whilst bringing my unique experience of working as a health care professional within women’s health to, Your Birth Sussed.
Hypnobirthing is not stage hypnosis even though it sounds quite ‘out there’. Part of hypnobirthing is being able to get yourself in to a deep relaxation during labour and birth through practise whilst you’re pregnant. This relaxation will help your body to labour effectively. Our course will give you the knowledge of the logic of hypnosis and why we use it in labour and birth and why it can often help you to have a quicker and more comfortable birth. Having this understanding means that you are more likely to do the practise in pregnancy and if you do, it will work much better in labour without you having TO DO anything!
At Your Birth Sussed we teach a comprehensive hypnobirthing and antenatal course looking at the physiology of birth and what your body is doing in labour so that you can work with it rather than against it. By being in a deep relaxed state you can allow your body to do what it needs to do by allowing the hormones needed for birth to flow uninhibited. Releasing fears surrounding birth, even those fears sitting in your subconscious mind from years of hearing or seeing traumatic birth events, looking at what can happen in birth and how you can navigate this in a positive way. You will also go away knowing your options, choices and rights in pregnancy and birth, which we consider throughout the whole course. Our course will have you feeling confident, calm and excited for the birth of your baby!
